College of Criminology Overview
The College of Criminology is committed to delivering transformative, values-oriented, and excellence-driven education that prepares students to become competent, ethical, and socially responsible professionals in the field of criminal justice. Rooted in the principles of wisdom, justice, and charity, the program develops individuals who are intellectually prepared, morally grounded, and dedicated to the service of God, society, and humanity.
Criminology is the scientific study of crime, criminal behavior, victims, and the systems that administer justice. More than understanding law enforcement and punishment, the discipline emphasizes crime prevention, community safety, human dignity, and social transformation. Through rigorous academic instruction, scientific investigation, and practical training, students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to analyze crime, investigate offenses, protect communities, and contribute to peaceful and orderly societies.
The College provides holistic formation that cultivates:
Critical thinking and problem-solving through scientific inquiry
Professional and technological competence in investigation, forensics, security, and justice administration
Ethical leadership and strong social responsibility
Community engagement and commitment to public service
Global competitiveness in responding to emerging and modern crimes
Central to criminology education is the goal of preventing crime before it occurs. Graduates are trained to address the root causes of criminality, assess risks, promote safety awareness, and implement evidence-based interventions that strengthen community security and social harmony.
Guided by Republic Act No. 11131, which professionalizes the criminology profession in the Philippines, the College prepares students for diverse career pathways beyond traditional law enforcement. Licensed criminologists may serve in:
Police, fire, jail, and corrections services
Forensic science, criminal investigation, and intelligence work
Private security, risk management, and loss prevention
Cybercrime prevention and digital security
Victim assistance, mediation, and community safety programs
Teaching, research, and criminal justice policy development
Through this expanded professional scope, criminology graduates become multidisciplinary agents of justice, safety, and nation-building capable of contributing locally, nationally, and globally.
The College of Criminology forms professionals who do not merely respond to crime, but who prevent harm, protect life, uphold justice, and build peaceful communities, true partners in the pursuit of a safer and more humane society.
