SCC tilts first-ever DICT-ZDS Hack4Gov Cybersecurity Challenge

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Zamboanga del Sur, in collaboration with the City Government of Pagadian, marked a significant milestone as it hosted its first-ever provincial Hack4Gov competition, a pioneering event aimed at bolstering cybersecurity awareness and skills among the youth.

Held in Pagadian City, the competition drew dynamic teams from participating schools, each showcasing their technical prowess and teamwork in a high-stakes cybersecurity challenge.
Saint Columban College’s (SCC) Team One Group emerged as the grand champion, besting their peers with a strong display of cyber defense techniques and strategic execution, coached by Mr. Syril Glein T. Flores, a Faculty of College of Computing Studies (CCS).
JH Cerilles State College’s Team Bytesize secured 1st Runner-Up, while Team Byte4rce, also from SCC, earned the 2nd Runner-Up spot.

The event was part of Hack4Gov, a nationwide cybersecurity competition spearheaded by the Cybersecurity Bureau – Philippine National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT).
The initiative is designed to offer students hands-on experience in cyber defense while raising public consciousness on the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital world.

The inaugural provincial rollout in Zamboanga del Sur signifies DICT’s expanding commitment to grassroots-level engagement in cybersecurity education, it also highlighted the region’s growing pool of young tech talents ready to contribute to the nation’s digital security goals.
