Pampinid na Programa para sa Buwan ng Lahi

On August 30, 2022, Saint Columban College will commemorate the end of Buwan ng Lahi under the theme “Filipino at mga katutubong wika kasangkapan sa pagtuklas at paglikha.” This is observed every August to encourage the promotion of traditional Filipino language and culture.

As part of the celebration, the Kamafil club prepared some activities in which students in different departments showed different talents and skills. Each department prepared representatives in comical skits, spoken poetry, and, most notably in the event, recycled cultural attire. The CTEAS department won the spoken poetry contest. The CCS department won the first prize in the comical skits. Lastly, the CBE department won for the most unique and mother-friendly recycled cultural attire.

The event ended successfully under the leadership of Miss. Jean Rose Cabatingan, the president of Kamafil Club, together with her co-members. The event is not just purely a celebration, but it is intended to remind us of the importance of our traditional Filipino language. In the legendary words of our national hero, Jose Rizal, “Ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa sa hayop at malansang isda.”
